Photoplus Conference and creativeLive party in NYC

Looking at the beauties in these photos, you’d think I was hanging out models!  The wonderful thing is, they are all photographers who specialize in making other women look gorgeous in photos.

Last week I went to PDN PhotoPlus in NYC where Sue Bryce (top right) taught a posing class and had a booth at the expo to promote her new educational website.  I’m a subscriber, and learn from it daily.

That evening, creativeLive hosted a really fun party at Lindsay Adler’s studio in the hip Chelsea neighborhood.

After a few glasses of wine I got giggly with Lara Jade (top left) a very talented UK fashion photographer, then I met Bambi Cantrell, (bottom right) a trail blazing female photographer, and I made a new friend Rimma (bottom left).

As a professional, it’s so important to continually up your game through education and conferences. In the photography world PhotoPlus is in NYC each fall, WPPI is in the early Spring in Las Vegas, and Imaging is in January usually in the SouthEast.  My first photography conference was Imaging in New Orleans in 2012, and I felt overwhelmed and a bit like a fish out of water.  WPPI in 2013 was next and I had a blast.  PhotoPlus is in my neck of the woods now and easier to get to.

How are you honing your skills and learning about new trends in your industry?  I hope you have a chance to take a class, or go to a conference this year, or even go to a party to meet new people.  It takes confidence to do something out of your comfort zone, but it can be so worth the effort!
