movement in photos with some chiffon
Last Tuesday, the light shining into the studio was magnificent. It was spring break and Anna and I had no plans that morning, so I grabbed my black chiffon and we did an impromptu shoot.
I took a test shot, and was stunned by how beautiful Anna looked. Although she’s not a trained dancer, she carried herself as one, when wrapped in the luscious silk chiffon.
$24 was what I paid for the fabric, but in the top left photo, it looks like a designer gown. The look evokes another era, which I enhanced to resemble the society portraits of John Singer Sargent.
You know those tiny little shorts that volleyball players wear? Well, that’s what Anna has on in the image on the right, paired with a black corset. Here we tossed the chiffon, which created magical lines, movement and texture.
This image was created with the help of a fan and the tool that no photographer can live without- photoshop.
When I showed these images to a friend who is a dancer, she said through a gasp, THIS is how I want to be photographed.
Words worth repeating here, as they bring me joy, pride, and excitement at the thought of creating more images like this, with a window, three yards of chiffon, and…perhaps…you?
