Of Flesh and Stone
New Jersey summers are HOT, and these days you’ll find me in a tank top, which I love. (Not missing that summertime San Francisco fog I have to admit!)
With naked skin on my mind, I’ve decided to put together collages of some of my favorite nudes that I’ve photographed recently. New York City museums are filled with sculpture that fill me with awe. For instance, the Rodin at the Met ( below center) is so sumptuous and sensual. He created such beauty with a hunk of clay!
This lovely woman (below right) is a member of a matriarchal tribe in Malaysia where women are seen as head of the household, and happiness of all members of the group is valued over competition. She is at the American Museum of Natural History. The dancing goddess from the Met (below left) was made in India almost a thousand years ago. The artisan who created her has every reason to be pleased with his work, as she is absolutely exquisite!
I hope you’ve been inspired to visit your local museum to seek out and admire the human form in all its glory. It’s the next best thing to people watching at the beach!
